March 3rd - 7th
Thank you to our parent volunteers who were able to help with basketball and in the classroom. Your help is always appreciated.
What did students do this week?
Students had a wonderful time learning basketball skills with Coach Dave!
In reading, students chose novels they would like to read in their small literacy groups. Then, we made predictions and summarized the first parts of the books.
In writing, students continued with their poetry books. They are working on their final poem, which will include all of the different elements of poetry we have worked on.
In math, students began working with multiplication. They focused on word problems to determine if they were or were not multiplication. Then, they wrote and solved their own problems.
In science, the students wrapped up their learning about energy. They did a number of experiments around magnetism. Finally, they reflected on all of the learning they have done in a one-pager.
- I can describe how non-contact forces affect objects.
- I can demonstrate the effect of gravity on an object.
- I can conduct an investigation to demonstrate magnetic forces on objects.
- What novel did your group choose? What do you think of it so far? Can you summarize what has happened?
- What is your final poem about? Why did you choose this? What types of figurative language are you including?
- What is an example of a multiplication word problem? What are the different ways you can multiply? (repeated addition, skip counting, equal groups, and arrays)
- What is force? What is magnetism? What is gravity? Tell me about the different experiments you did!
