What did students do this week?
We had another great week in grade four! During our class read aloud, students continued to pull out and record key information about wolves, which connects to our science curriculum. In writing, students wrote amazing paragraphs about something they weren't able to do at one point but can do now. This connects to our school wide text The Magical Yet. This will also help students to set goals this coming week. In math, students collected data about a topic of their choice and represented it through pictographs using scale. In addition, the grade fours continued to appreciate and express what makes each of them unique. They represented this through a Medicine Wheel, focusing on the heart, mind, body, and spirit domains.
English Language Arts and Literature Learning Outcomes (I can...)
- I can create written text for a specific purpose.
- I can develop a logical order by grouping ideas into a paragraph.
- I can edit writing for spelling, punctuation, and sensory details.
Possible Questions to Ask Your Child:
- What did you learn about how wolves sense and respond to their environment to help them grow and survive?
- What is your Magical Yet paragraph about? What do you think you did well based on your checklist?
- I can select an appropriate scale to represent data.
- I can represent data in a graph using scale other than one.
- I can interpret data represented in various graphs.
Possible Questions to Ask Your Child:
- What data did you choose to collect from your classmates?
- Why are graphs a good way to share information?
- What does "scale" mean when graphing?
- What scale did you choose to use for your graph and why?
- Thank you again for sending your child with alternatives to nut products for snack and lunch. It is appreciated.
- Thank you for sending photos of your child for their "My Magical Yet" writing. If you have not yet done so, could you please send them in this coming week. If you are not able to, that's okay. We took some great photos of each child at school.
