September 3rd - 6th
Welcome to Room 4's weekly blog. Each week, student learning will be shared here. Please check this often and talk to your child about what they are learning!
What did students do this week?
It has been a great start to the school year! As a class, we worked on getting to know one another, building relationships, and establishing routines. Students participated in a number of collaborative challenges, including The Marshmallow Challenge and The Cup Stacking Challenge. In English Language Arts and Literature, we started a wonderful read aloud called A Wold Called Wander by Rosanne Parry. While listening, students made connections and started responses in their journals. They also shared about themselves by writing letters including their interests in and outside of school. In Mathematics, students played different games, represented themselves in numbers, and solved problems demonstrating their number sense. Their problem solving also showed amazing perseverance, determination, and collaboration! The grade fours finished the week by creating beautiful art work based on the story When the Trees Crackle with Cold, which is a Cree Calendar, written by Bernice Johnson-Laxdal and Miriam Korner. It has been a busy, wonderful week in grade four!
